Bryan Felt announces promotions and athletic administration reorganization

South Orange, NJ – Seton Hall Director of Athletics and Recreation Brian Felt ’97, MA ’05 announced that four members of the department have earned promotions and has reorganized senior leadership and athletic administration duties.

Download promotions are Lauren Peterson to the Senior Associate Director of Athletics for Internal Operations, Thomas Chen to the Senior Associate Director of Athletics External Relations, Jaclyn Panepinto to the Assistant Athletic Director for Business Affairs and Caitlin Kelly to Associate Head Athletic Trainer.

Peterson joins Felt’s senior leadership team and is now responsible for overseeing the overall management of the department’s budget functions including financial reporting, long-term and capital planning, forecasting, internal audits, business operations systems and contract management. In addition to financial management responsibilities, Peterson oversees the department’s human resources and is the athletic administrator for the volleyball, men’s golf and women’s golf programs.

Prior to this new role, Peterson held various responsibilities within the department over a 20-plus year career with Seton Hall Athletics, most recently as Associate Athletics Director for Business Affairs, responsible for all business-related financial transactions.

Chen also joins the senior leadership team and is now responsible for all of the division’s external units, including communications, marketing, ticketing and the division’s corporate sponsorship with Learfield.

Chen has been at Seton Hall since 2014, most recently as Associate Athletics Director for Digital Media and Communications, overseeing the department’s media relations, website, email communications and social media as well as division’s broadcasting and creative services division, the Pirate Sports Network.

Panepinto moves to the business office after a year as an administrative assistant in the athletics department, assisting the senior leadership team with compliance, travel operations, development and business management. She is now in charge of managing all business transactions of the department.

Kelly has been with the Pirates since September 2017, initially as an assistant athletic trainer and then promoted to senior assistant athletic trainer. In addition to working closely with the men’s soccer, men’s and women’s swimming and diving, and tennis teams, Kelly helps ensure that the training room operates under the direction of the sports medicine mission of providing the highest quality of evidence-based health care at Seton Hall University student-athletes.

In addition to the promotions, Felt reorganized the athletic administration duties of the department. Kathy Matawho is the department’s Senior Associate Athletic Director for Recreation Services, has added sports administrator duties for men’s and women’s swimming and diving. Sean McCarthywho is the Associate Athletics Director for Compliance, is now the athletic administrator for the tennis team. Roberto Sassowho is the Associate Athletics Director for Student-Athlete Development and Leadership, is now the athletic administrator for the men’s and women’s cross country teams.

Felt is also in the process of adding a Senior Associate Athletic Director for Development, who will be responsible for all annual and capital fundraising for the Pirate Blue Athletic Fund, serve on the senior leadership team and oversee the softball program.
